As I was surfing my usual haunts, something caught my eye: a “Write a Better Novel” widget.
Wha-a-at? Someone brazenly lifted my title? I had to check this out. I clicked.
Lo and behold, there it was, on Widgetbox, just as you see it here. A neat little box with logo and links to my latest blog posts. “Why, I oughta…” Then it hit me…
Back in the day–I’m blushing as I write this–I had grabbed this little sucker at Widgetbox for the home page of my website, BillHendersonOnline.com. Then I never gave it another thought. Now, like a former amnesia victim, I felt like I was discovering it all over again.
And it’s kind of neat.
If you want to promote your blog, I’d say make one up for yourself. It’s free and pretty easy to do: just use their interface to choose and customize a design, then grab the java code and drop it into your site or blog.
If you’d like to tell others about my blog, put one of these on your site for a while (or in Facebook, MySpace, or just about wherever you want). That would be great.
And I know what you’re thinking, but no, this is not a subtle affiliate marketing pitch. I have no connection with WidgeBox beyond the long lost relationship I just rediscovered this morning. And it’s still embarrassing me no end.
